***NOTICE*** 5/12/2011
Well, you're never too old to learn a lesson, especially in business.
I
was asked to put a gig together by a company called Independent Pet
Supply Khorami or something like that. The woman is named Neda. If she
contacts you about a gig, beware. I didn't think she had told me a
specific date, but she claims she did. I withdrew from a gig I had been
booked on based on her word as a "professional business person" and she
comes back after I hustle to make a bunch of calls to cancel the gig
outright. Apparently she didn't want to pay the rate that I always pay
the musicians who work for me when I do these casual gigs. I should have
followed my own rules and wait for the contract and the down payment
before making calls or cancelling my other gig. I doubt I'll be
compensated for my loss.
All you younger musicians, I hope you're paying attention.
FYI, she was trying to get a jazz group for Friday, June 3 at Marysville Tulalip Casino for their annual company party.
Spread the word!! DON'T TAKE A GIG FROM HER!
